Assam, 19 October: Dillai police, Assam had yet again successfully foiled the plan of drug smugglers trying to carry the substance into Assam from neighbouring states using the road through Karbi Anglong.
According to the reports, the seizure took place on the early morning of Sunday at around 5.30 am, when Lahorijan Patrol Post in-charge SI (UB) Manujal Gogoi, along with Dillai police station OC SI Raju Bahadur Chettry stopped a Six-wheeler LP truck bearing registration number AS-04AC- 5213 at Lahorijan checkpoint on the NH-39 for routine checking.
While conducting routine checking of the truck, police officials recovered and seized 3 kgs 45 grams of heroin from the driver's cabin. It is estimated that the value of seized heroin in the international market would be around rupees 15 crores.
Two persons who were in the vehicle have been taken into police custody.
The arrested persons have been identified as 27-year-old Ram alias Rame Gurung, 33-year-old Bhim Gurung, from Manipur.
They were on-bound to Guwahati from Imphal.
