Dharmapur 2 : A 23-year-old Chakma woman Robina Chakma gave birth to three normal children (triplet) naturally at her home in Dharmapur 2 Village under Miao Circle of Changlang district in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh at around 3.30 am on Monday.
Local ASHA worker of the village — SusmaChakma took care of Robina during the Coronavirus pandemic. Talking to ACTV, Susma said that the babies and their mother are "safe and good", adding that while a male infant weighing 3 kilograms was delivered first, a female baby weighing around 2.6 kg was the second and the youngest female infant weighing 1.8 kilograms was the third.
The birth of triplets has brought smiles and happiness among the villagers. "Robina already has a four-year-old child," informed the ASHA worker.
When inquired about the postnatal care and nutritional food required for the mother and the newborn, she replied, "I have shared the details of the home delivery case to the hospital officials; and such facilities are expected to reach soon." The Health worker added that the mother needs immediate attention as she might become weak and it would affect breastfeeding. "Sonography could not be done earlier because of financial constraints. As the husband remains out for work, the aged in-laws were taking care of their daughter during the pregnancy period," pointed out the ASHA worker.
