Agartala, 22 October: On Thursday morning in a clash between Chakmas and Bengalis two persons seriously injured in Laljuri under Kanchanpur Sub-division in North Tripura.
The clash erupted due to land disputes issues in Laljuri.
According to the sources, two years ago, there were Patta land disputes between two brothers and Bengali, but after a government resolution and intervened, it was decided and handover the land to in the name of two brothers. The Patta land was registered in the name of two brothers named Pemolal and Pindulal Chakma.
After two years, today, Bengalis made the Durga puja pandals without the permission of the owners, so in this regards the Chakmas protested and blocked the Laljuri bridge. And in retaliation locals attacked in a mob around 150-200 people with bamboo, bottles, knives, hammer, and other sharp instruments to the Chakmas (5-10 families) in Laljuri. Where two persons seriously injured named Bikanta Chakma, 26, and Pindulal Chakma, 46. Both the injured person is hospitalized.
Later on, the police with TSR Jawans reached the spot and controlled the mob.
